Writing in a Digital Environment
The constant expansion of the technological frontier has made it crucial for those in the field of business to stay up to date with what's currently trending. Writing is just another aspect of people's daily lives that is currently undergoing a massive transformation. Long gone are the days of only reading news stories in the newspaper or watching them on TV. Now people can read about whatever they want by searching for it directly on their computer, cell phone, or tablet. Technology has eliminated the time lag.
The expansion of technology has also affected the medium through which information is passed. Many companies find creating a Facebook or Twitter profile is beneficial to them because it allows them to communicate to the most amount of people and is a relatively inexpensive way to do so. Rather than creating an ad, printing it on paper, and mailing it to customers, businesses can send out a tweet to their followers or compose a Facebook post. They must also focus on designing the posts in a way that informs readers of their message quickly because the ease of access that people are used to with new technology has unfortunately made people lazy. It is important that digital writing be to the point, or it risks losing readers' interest.
My first digital writing assignment was a podcast, which is a digital file of recorded audio. Podcast-makers often manage a series of podcasts centered around their particular area of expertise, in which they will discuss their thoughts by recording themselves speak and distribute it on the internet for others to listen to. This is a great way to get information across to listeners in a short and quick manner, and it has become increasingly popular as technology has progressed.
Podcast Assignment: In my assignment, my only requirement was that I tailor my response to an audience of high-school students who were interested in learning about my chosen career field, marketing.

Like the podcast assignment, my second assignment is also based on informing readers of the marketing industry; however, the medium for this assignment is a post to a website. The online post was intended for college students, rather than high school students, which allowed me to formulate my information in a more professional manner.
Web Post Assignment:
1) An informative title for the post
2) Same basic information that was required for Memo #1 & Memo #2 (educational requirements, salary, job outlook, writing in this workplace, a typical workday, current issues)
3) At least two hyperlinks meant to lead your readers to additional information (perhaps to your research sources)
