Research Reports
First and foremost, when composing writing based on research, gathering information from reliable sources is a must. In order to effective utilize the sources you pull information from, it is best not to quote directly from the source. Government (.gov) or non-profit websites (.edu, .org, etc.) are typically considered to be reliable sources to gather research from. It is also extremely important to create a citation of the source and formally display it in a works cited page to avoid plagiarism.

This report was required to be in a memo format. This style of writing is unique because, unlike a letter, it does not include a salutation at the beginning or a closing at the end because it is intended to be short and to the point. Also, memos are intended for people within a company, so extra writing to promote goodwill is not necessary.
The intention of my memo was to give my audience with a basic understanding of the problems with social media marketing, according to the two sources I researched. In order to get my point across most effectively without providing too much information, I supplied my readers with a brief summary of each article, then composed my own analysis of each. The purpose of the articles' analysis was to highlight the good and bad. I showed where I believed the articles were spot on and where they left out information that should have been included. The summary provides a snapshot of just the pertinent information, the analysis compares them, and the result is an informative research memo.
